Is coaching necessary ?

Is coaching necessary ?

Think of an elite sportsman like Virat Kohli. Does he have a personal coach ? Yes, he does. But would you say his career success is purely down to his coach ? Of course not. Kohli trains and suffers day in day out, practices consistently to learn and improve his game. His self discipline, hard work and the burning determination to excel at the game is what makes him the elite player he is.

Same goes with success in the competitive exams. Coaching merely helps you, it does not ensure you a rank. Your self study, consistency and the hard work you put in sitting at your study table matters far more than what you do in coaching classes.
Suppose you know what standard books to study, what coaching notes to refer to, and by reading them you are able to understand the subject, that’s brilliant and you don’t need coaching.

“You need a set pattern of your training, the way you eat, how healthy and fit you need to be. Being fitter made me mentally stronger. It was like a direct connection.”
-Virat kohli

On the other hand, if you are absolutely clueless about the exam process or the books you need to study, coaching institutes will definitely help you get a broad idea. But as I said, you still have to read standard books, make required notes, practice questions and put in the work to outshine your competition.

Habits of winners :

These are few habits which I personally found useful while preparing for competitive exams

Try to wake up early (4 or 5) in the morning. This will make you more active and you can plan for the whole day. It also help you to keep motivated.

Workout at least 45 min to 1 hr a day. Again this will make you active and you fit. You can either go to a walk.

Have a healthy diet. You can cheat some days but don’t do it over. I have heard about many students who got ill and lost there precious time by lying on bed.

NEVER EVER COMPARE YOURSELF WITH OTHERS. I REPEAT NEVER. This is the most dangerous thing you will do in your preparation.

Prepare only from limited books & notes. Your handwritten notes, previous years question papers.

Regular test is important. It will help to improve and help you to find out your mistakes.
Be consistent in your studies. If you are studying 6 hrs a day then do it daily.

In the path of preparation you will face many problems and your confidence will fluctuate but at this point give yourself time and motivate yourself, believe in yourself. Watch motivational video ( though it will motivate you temporarily but it will help you to face difficult situations).

Once or twice in a month go out and enjoy whole day. This is very important. Students may think that its just a waste of time but trust me once you skip a day and enjoy you are filled with new energy and confidence and this will increase your efficiency.

Best Wishes!
